<p></p><ul><li><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:medium;">The last two weeks have been a roller coaster ride for world trade and global financial markets as US President Trump on 2nd April announced reciprocal tariffs on almost all trading partners ranging from 10-50% to address large and persistent US trade deficit. This was to fulfill his long standing claims of US trading partners dumping their products in the US that was detrimental to US manufacturing which declined to 16% of global manufacturing in 2024 from 29% in 1970.
